Re: Larus fuscus fuscus?

Plumage and moult-wise I'd opt for intermedius.

ID white-winged gull from single flight shot

http://waarneming.nl/waarneming/view/62052770 The observer is confident it concerns a Glaucous but I don't see how to exclude a larger Iceland like this one http://waarneming.nl/waarneming/view/61817625 I don't see these species often enough to confidently ID by jizz but hopefully someone on this fo...

Re: mystery from black sea

Pure (sub)adult graellsii with pinkish legs? I don't recall ever having seen one. When I see a bird like this in Holland I classify it as Herring x LBBG.

LBBG? #2

I have deep-linked a picture from Norman's site. Normally always good for a smile or two but this bird caught my attention. Photographed 11-10-11 at Brouwerdam, NL. Any opinions as to age and ID?

LBBG?

Intriguing bird, reported as Caspian, but that seems highly unlikely given the very dark juvenile feathers and general state of moult. LBBG?

Field identification criteria for 2cy Baltic Gull

At the request of the Dutch rarity committee (CDNA), we have written a short paper about the identification of unringed Baltic Gull. The article, plus an accompanying web site, are found at:
