Re: Russian gull ringread in Austria

Thank you, Theo, for your suspicion ;) Of course I had noticed this curved bases of the 2 V on the poor picture too. But I know Richard Katzinger, one of the best upcoming birders in Austria. His focus is on raptors and he really attracts species like Imperial Eagle or Long Legged Buzzard. He reads ...

Re: Ringed Caspian Gull - February 22nd 2012

Hi Cristian, the quickest way to get data of CG ringed in Ukraine is to write to RC in Kiev (Anatolyi Poluda). Within some days he normally will reply. Greg will answer very fast - if you have seen a ringed bird from his Russian expedition  . Otherwise I think there are many of these PSxx a...

ID for large gull in Austria

Hi, I was asked for ID, but personally I really don´t have an idea... The gull was found yesterday at the compost dump Gneixendorf near Krems. Unfortunately it did not appear at the authorities port in the evening like almost all other gulls from Gneixendorf do. So I could not see it, when I had bee...

dark 2cy Caspians

Hello, I´m not dead but there havn´t been any large gulls in the Austrian Danube/Donau-system in the last weeks due to the very mild winter this year. otherwise I heard of 1500 (!) Caspian Gulls only in a small flat steppe lake near Neusiedler See in December, in a time when most of the large gulls ...

Age ID of a Caspian Gull

Hi, its the case of a bird mentioned already here: http://www.talk.gull-research.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=174 Theo had voted for an Ukraine ring and he is right. I have found the only Ukraine T-ring on the KULING website and after comparing several details I´m sure: it´s identical ;) Further on I´m ...

Ringed Sabine´s Gull in Austria

Hi, an adult Sabine´s Gull (Xema sabini) was found last days in Austria. Christoph Roland has discovered the bird in the Viennese sewage purification plant where tens of thousands of BHG are roosting. Successful twitchers noticed a metal ring on the bird. I have received a picture on which only one ...

Re: YLG with ring from Slowakia

Today first observtion of E0093 at Steyr/city this winter season.
I was able to picture open wing of that bird and his partner. The male has still growing p10 and a mirror on p9.
E0093 has no mirror on p9 and seems to lack black on p5. But the flightshot reveals a small dot on p5.
