Covert moult in argentatus
Some good images- recently taken in southern Sweden by Mårten Müler - showing advanced covert moult and a single tertial in one individual in (presumably) argentatus. Not a common feature but seen i maybe less than 5 % (?) of argentatus. The top 5 pic. and some other individuals: http://www.pbase.co...

Some gulls from Israel
Hi all.
Thought you might wanna see these from Israel by Sasi Yaad. Some are perhaps not so straightforward to identify.

Re: possible Kumliens Gull
Derek and Theo would of course mean the wingtip and not the upper part of the outer primaries where Derek has his two marks, if now anybody got that wrong ;) However, a closer look doe´s show that the grey on p9 & 8 seem to continue down to and almost reach the very tips of those primaries, and that...

What Peter noticed in the other wing I didn´t. So he´s explanation seems correct.

Re: Some Yellow-legged Gulls in Bucharest, November 1st
I see that Cristian has posted some larger images of his michahellis which I posted yesterday. These are the three first here. As Ruud, I noticed the innermost primary. Could it be a fully grown p1 (difficult to see the state of it), with p2 shed, or are there some other explanation?

Re: Gulls from Dambovita Romania
Two more of Cristians gull. The faint mirror is hardly visible but a more obvious one on the other wing.
The idea is michahellis.

The images turned out smaller then expected.

Re: ad cach from Romania, May 2009
Good ones again Theo! Although the dark mark on cachinnans varies - which is also shown here - and some can have a surprisingly thin mark, sometimes not meeting on the shaft, but a total lack of any markings I have yet to see. The combination of billshape, some males are quite heavy-billed but that ...

Re: unringed fuscus
The right (paler) gull gave me the impression of a barabensis, but as you say, the PMS could tell another story. I could settle with a heuglin for the subject gull indeed. However regarding 'taimyrensis' I´m a bit confused.
Thanks
