Kamome Shikibetsu Handbook
The updated gull-guide by the Ujihara´s has been out for a while now: http://www23.tok2.com/home/jgull/gullidentifi_.htm#KamomeHB It seems to be running out of stock at Amazon, for the moment at least, so I ordered mine today. Just have to dust off my rusty japanese and enjoy it when it arrives.. ;)...

Re: canus vs delawarensis??
Hi! SIze, the few moulted coverts and tail pattern is interesting, but otherways I get only COGU impression from these photos. Although it´s subjective, the face expression is spot on for COGU, IMO. It´s a large bird, but the built seems still very slender (especially legs and bill), not different f...

Re: variation in micha in Holland
Attached is another pic of one of at least two fresh juvenile micha´s present in Malaga harbour. There was at least one late brood in the city, with a barely fledged juv ringed just before my visit. However, this bird looks more like a LBBG to me: http://www.pbase.com/hans_larsson/image/128045855 Ch...

Re: Łubna, Poland
Nice pics Michal! Could the birds named fuscus actually be smallish YLG´s? At least the second bird seems a bit too worn and advanced in scapular moult. And behind the first there´s a Caspian lurking.

We have had a very similar bird in Belgium for at least 19 years now. It is quite photogenic:

Re: Pure 3cy Gull?
With that primary pattern and leg + bill colour, the Swedish bird should be a Common x Black-headed hybrid, right? http://www.artportalen.se/artportalen/g ... geID=43252

Glaucous gulls in Iceland
A few hyperboreus here:
http://www.pbase.com/hans_larsson/hyper ... 28243_2010_
Unfortunately it was a bad winter for Glaucous gulls in southern Iceland. If I had made the icy journey to Snæfellsnes there would have been thousands in sight..
Cheers,
Hans
