this is a fuscus-type. don't know if we can ID it down to subsp. but looks rather like a graellsii/intermedius to me.
regards,
lou

Re: YLG?
hi ryszard, a dark herring gull type for me. bill is not that of a YLG (weak, pale very narrow base, rel. pointed tip), head is not striated but somewhat solid brown (looks like a bird from earlier in the year, before postjuvenile moult), belly line is not that of YLG and there are a lot of bold blo...

Re: YLG ?
hi Ryszard, too much "window" in it to belong to a YLG, moonlike median bands on tail feathers are also not ideal for michahellis, bill shape more reminding of cachinnans. so, it might have cachi genes in it but otherwise a herring gull, note for instance the mostly juvenile scapulars (usually quite...

Re: Unusual scapulars in 1cy Herring Gull.
hi richard, it's an odd pale type 1cy HG with an odd "moult-pattern": some metabolistic/genetic tricks having led to a asymmetric postjuvenile moult of only the right side of scaps, so, yes those are 2nd gen. , with a subdued pattern. rest of the bird is a fairly normal juvenile herring gull! great ...

Re: Fuscus??
inner webs to inner primaries too pale for a fuscus of any kind. i suspect this to be a hybrid cachi x argentatus or (rarer option) cachi x micha.
