Everything looks okay for Herring Gull. An open-wing shot would be a bonus.

Dark 1st-winter gull: L. a. argentatus?
On 22.1.15 that dark and slender 2nd-cy gull, very unusual here in Western France (at least for me). A first look gives a LBBG feeling but the tertials, coverts look more HG, don't they? I was thinking it could be a L. a. argentatus … Any comment, idea would be welcome… http://www.digimages.info/goe...

1st-cy Polish red 6xxx
Champteussé-sur-Baconne, Western France, 26.12.14. That Polish guy (red 6xxx, 68xx, 66xx... couldn't be read) : What species? large bill with bulging gonyx (probably a male). Scaps seem dark (one lighter) http://www.digimages.info/goepon/larcac141226_rouge6xxx_05.jpg http://www.digimages.info/goepon...

Re: cr-gull green XLEN
personally i don't think this is a (pure) michahellis Yes I do agree. When I first saw the bird I couldn't make up my mind. On the pictures, I found some discrepancies: Caspian-like upperparts but head, bill, underparts not usual for that species… When Ronald said it was ringed as a micha , I was a...

cr-gull green XLEN
German gull green XLEN seen in Western France on 11.12.14. Rather stocky, dark underside, shortish bill… Mantle, scapulars, coverts seem to fit Caspian. Pure Caspian or not? http://www.digimages.info/goepon/lar141211_XLEN_1rw.jpg http://www.digimages.info/goepon/lar141211_XLEN_2rw.jpg http://www.dig...

black marked bill adult LBBG
Taken on 22.10.14 at a landfill site of Western France, this LBBG has been ringed [LAWR(<94);LBM(5473531);RAN] as an adult in 2013 at Rotterdam (RJ Buijs, life-history on http://baguage.lpo-anjou.org/94-N).
Much black on its bill, isn't it?

'leucistic' LBBG
1st or 2nd-cy taken on 22.10.14 at a landfill site in Western France. A ghost of a band tail in flight. Video http://youtu.be/ULtZuR_aODo Hein van Grouw says: "Given that the bird’s bill is normal coloured I think this is mutation Brown , but completely bleached by the (sun)light." http://www.digima...
