Re: GBBG or HG?
Hi, it is a Herring Gull. The underwing coverts are too pale for GBBG, the pattern on scapulars and (upper)wing coverts appears too thin/delicate, and the pattern on inner primaries is not too good either. Hi Adriaens, Thanks for your comment! How about that tail pattern? Is that within variation o...

GBBG or HG?
Hi Guys, I have just seen a bird at the local dump near Debrecen, Hungary. My first impression was that it is a good candidate for a 1st-winter GBBG but somehow its bill and size were not too convincing. Other features like greater coverts, tail pattern look good to me. I attached some photos showin...

Re: Color-ringed YLG in Hungary
http://www.crb-photoguide.com/ This is good place to check but what I found doesn't fit to your case as well. Or the species is wrong, or the ring is broken or was not read correctly. Cheers Dear Boris, Thanks for the link. I have checked that before and there was only one picture of a color ring p...

Color-ringed YLG in Hungary
Hi Guys, I observed a color-ringed adult YLG at my local patch on August 15th in Debrecen, Hungary. It sported a dark-blue ring on the right tibia with whitish inscriptions : AH reading from top down. The metal ring was also on the tibia on the left leg. I have already checked here: http://www.cr-bi...

Re: CGs_Hortobágy_Hungary_2014_March_I
The moult in the inner wing is different in both wings, with p4-p7 in the right wing and p1-p6 in the left, together with S1. This reminds me of a bird having moulted as a result of some illness. This is accentuated by the un-moulted secondaries and rectrices. If it is really a very advanced bids I...

Hi Guys, Yesterday, I visited the Eagle hide again, only to find Caspian Gulls instead:)) Before I upload some pictures of ordinary looking birds, let me go ahead and ask you about these ones. One of them is a 2nd-winter with heavily barred rump. I think, I have never seen this before at this age-gr...
