Darwic ringing was done sometimes (not yearly) in the nineties by Tatjana Ardamatskaya and Antonia Rudenko. Rings came from Norman van Swelm. Maybe Greg Neubauer (Poland, member of this board) has further information. Personally I saw only 3 different colour-ringed birds from this project on rubbish...

Photo was taken 2004 near Berlin, metal-ring lost. Hatched near Cherson, Black Sea, 10 years before.

I asked some other experts (A. Buchheim, D. Gruber, L. Jonsson, V. Rauste) about it. Nobody can exclude a heuglini, but there is no possibility of proof with these bad images. We should archive it for the present as x-file.

Because I know these, believe it. A pale LBBG would be in the Baltic region a rarity too. I saw only 2 in 18 years on rubbish dumps.Why isn´t it a LBBG, or even a H-word bird?

4th ky. was my impression too, because the bird has some dark marknings on primary coverts. For me, I was surprised about mantle colour, paler than expected for heuglini. What about barabensis? Hindneck-streaking was visible in field, but not at the images. Unfortunally the birds were disturbed, so ...

do never forget. The Polish colonies yearly drop many hybrids to Western Europe. The images by Steven, taken close to their roots, they are interesting, and I agree.

The primaries seemed to be fresh, not weared. Note the tiny, but unspoiled white tips.
