Re: YLG with ring from Slowakia
Oh that would be something in Holland, a Slovakian YLG... Yes I think they are a rarity. Until this reading I didn´t know anything about breeding large gulls in CZ and SLK. According to the migration atlas of CZ and SLK (printed in 2008) there are some breeding sites and there is ringing acitivity,...

Re: Caspian Gull wings
Fine, thanks for that link !
Just yesterday I tried to open other websites of Grzegorz, but it seems they don´t work now.
Btw: One of these crossed my ways - 896P, 6.1.2006, Wörth/Austria. It has got it´s cr in 2004.

Re: YLG with ring from Slowakia
Today I have been in Steyr again. The pair was present too at the same place. I had also noticed that huge bill of the ringed bird, but he unringed one was built heavier. On the picture of today you can compare, the unringed has at least a longer head... I had some troubles with a BHG with Stockholm...

Re: Yellow-legged or Caspian ?
In difficult cases I use always bill proportions (lenghth : depth). These are strongly different in these 2 taxa.
Measured bill proportions (and also bill coloration) of this bird are leading me definitely to YLG!

Re: Adult Glaucous Gull in Austria!
The Glaucous Gull moves east! A lot of twitchers havn´t been successful at Melk yesterday evening but today afternoon the gull was rediscovered at powerstation Greifenstein near Vienna. Chances for Hungary are increasing

Re: YLG with ring from Slowakia
Michal, I think I have to explain something ;) I did not try to read the ring for 2 hours. After a first short observation the bird was flying away, when I arrived with my telescope... After 2 hours fortunately it returned, meanwhile I had a lot to do with the BHG rings. Then I had to wait a...

YLG with ring from Slowakia
Hello, yesterday I was in Steyr (northern central Austria) to read BHG rings in the medieval center of the town, where the clear alpine river Steyr has it´s mouth into river Enns. BTW I had 4 read rings from CZ, SLK and HR, unfortunately3 rings from PL remained only partially read. There are increai...

CG or hybrid?
On 5-10-2010 late in the evening I spotted this bird at river Donau/Austria. Structure looks well for CG, but: heavy brest-streaking, strongly barred undertail coverts, much white on tertials and the pattern of contrastless coverts have something of HG. Should be a 1cy in spite of pale bill... Sorry...
