Hi Guys,
I will get in the ring with my own CG without P5 dark mark (at least nothing from underneath, but unfortunately I have no pix from above).
Cheers,
Gabor

Debrecen, Hungary_I_ 2010/2011 July-Aug, CGs
Hi All, I would like to share some of my images I took near my hometown Debrecen. I have been visiting the local dump where I photographed gulls on a small pond and later on the dump after getting permission to enter. I think I will upload the pix of CGs first, being interesting to western gullers. ...

Hi Adrieans,adriaens wrote:Hi Gabor,
the black spots around the eye are actually head lice (i.e. parasites), so yes, this bird has some problems...
Thanks, that explains a lot:)

Sick CG from Hungary
Hi, Yesterday, I took some images of a strange looking adult CG at the dump near Debrecen, Hungary. First the darkish mask (it was present on the other side too) grabbed my attention, then I saw that it was limping too and also the nice pattern of P10 on both sides. Later on I noticed that P10 in th...

Hi Adriaens,adriaens wrote:Hi,
this tail pattern is perfectly normal for 2w European Herring Gull.
The tail can even be all-black.
Even in a very few 1st-cycle European HGs this is the case!
Thanks a lot!

Gabor

HG with lots of dark in the tail
Hi All, I have taken some pictures of a 2nd-winter HG at my local patch in Hungary today. I'm just wondering how frequently you can see this kind of dark tail among the European HGs? Or the other way around: is it within the range of smithsonianus? I am not familiar with this age group of HGs at all...

Re: CGs, HGs or Hybrids??
[quote="marsmuusse"]Hi Gabor, Very nice pictures! The adult should be cachinnans indeed, both 2nd winter birds look like michahellis I think; very extensive partial autumn moult, inner greater coverts either already grey or grey-based with brown anchor. Argentatus from Norway and N Russia do not sho...

Re: CGs, HGs or Hybrids??
it even has a "thayeri"-connection on p9. by the way, quite many caspian gulls do have pale irides. I am not really familiar with the "thayeri"-like pattern in CGs. How frequent is it? Does it mean that it is a CG or the opposite? I am aware that pale eyes occur among them, but this time I was purp...
