Re: caspian and yellow-legged gull - is this love?
We know any combination of interbreeding in LWHG, but I don`t know a proven (and successfull) cach x mich mixing yet. All(?) yellowlegged cach-partners in Eastern Central Europe seem to be argentatus. Correct me please, if I am wrong.

Re: Strange ring on Blackheaded Gull
Arne Köhler wrote me, definitly not from his German project.(2): arne-koehler@gmx.de and rones@t-online.de
Both involved in colour-ringing Common Gulls with such kind of white colour-rings. Maybe they also have ringed a few BHG's with such colour-rings.
You should ask Kjeld Pedersen.

Re: HG with extreme bare part colours
It seems to be not a local phenomena in Aarhus. In Baltic Germany (Schleswig-Holstein near Danish border) the same too.

Re: CG or hybrid?
I agree with you, Lou....nothing hybridish for me there. looks perfect for female type caspian.
some ind. just do have stronger head striation than might be expected for a cach.

HG? No, never my opinion.
Eye mask, bill shape, tail pattern, tertials etc. pp.
I think all features are good for a identification as michahellis.

Re: 1cy gull - what species?
I am sure, the Hirtshals-gull is an Hybrid HG x CP. The fresh tertial-pattern (dark with broad pale top) is a typical cach-feature. But shape and quite dark underwing belongs more to HG. I hate this birds. Next year I will personally try to get more information in the Lausitz mixed colony. The local...
