Hello,
I´m just back from short nice holidays in Croatia. A lot of interesting animals there, among them Vipera ammodytes
Here are some pictures of the gulls:

Re: Double ringed Caspian Gull
Double chance to read it! I would vote for Ukrain.... Distance was about 25m. I had hoped to manage it with my 500mm lens, but the only chance would have been to drive home for my digiscoping eqipment... Now this bird will be further north, these are gulls migrating to northern directions coming fr...

Re: YLG/HG?
Orbital ring colour seen? Underside of p10 seen? Here the best pic of head with orbital ring - note that the distance was about 25m. Mars would say: Get out of the car and feed with bread! To do this would mean that you never will see this birds again ;) Then I have found this 2nd pic with spreaded...

Re: pure HG?
Here is another pic with possibility to compare with an YLG of the same age. I can´t imagine that this is an YLG. It has a Caspian head in my eyes. The bird combines features of CG and HG - in my modest opinion...

Re: YLG with ring from Slowakia
Yesterday I found that pair of YLG returned from their unknown winter site. I´m quite sure that it is the ringed Slowakian female, characterized by it´s strong bill. And the male has this characteristic head shape. Btw: Also news from that Stockholm ringed BHG, bad news. In February it was found in ...

Double ringed Caspian Gull
Seen today at Wörth/Austria: a 5cy Caspian Gull with metalring on each tarsus! Although I did a lot of pictures, it was not possible to read the rings - too far away...
In field I thought of Polish rings, but now it looks good for Ukraine. Or Lithuania?

YLG/HG?
I have still my problems with breeding plumage of HG (we are clearly out of breeding range ;) ) I see short legs ( not to compare with adult YLG now - just yesterday I have seen again the pair with the Slowakian female!) and complete white tip of P10. But it seems to have (solid?) black on P5... See...

Re: pure HG?
Interestingly the bird has returned today! Easy to recognize...
Again no flightshots possible, but a viev to the whitish tail coverts (with weak barring).

Re: pure HG?
Thanks, Peter and Lou, for your comments. Yes, it´s more an YLG with atypical coverts, I think. It´s not to expect to see such an individual in winter, when the species is more a rarity here. Gullers from the coasts can not imagine how difficult observing of gulls can be at inland sites. Gulls are v...

pure HG?
Good morning,
another one from yesterday. Will be a Herring Gull, I´m indeed not experienced in the variety of this taxon
Looks strange for me with it´s whitish head, white breast and belly and even nearly lacking a barring of undertail coverts. Also pretty dark tertials.
