Thank you Lou.
I do agree: my friend was puzzled by the shortish bill and legs, for the latter the fluffy belly feathers are probably responsible of the "shortness" of the legs.

cachinnans yellow PHDK:pure or not?
These pictures, taken on 19 Nov 2011 somewhere in Normandy (France), have been sent to me by a friend (not taken by him). He asks for the true identity of that bird (ringed as a "Larus cachinnans kolonia" ): pure cachinnnans or hybrid? http://www.digimages.info/PHDK_191111_1.jpg http://www.digimages...

Re: Color-ringed YLG in Hungary
Could fit the project run by Roland-Jan Buijs <rjbuijs@hetnet.nl> (The Netherlands). RJ rings probably few michahellis but some of his birds could be hybrids…

(No other pictures of those sightings.) 20 March 2013 (my pictures): http://baguage.lpo-anjou.org/phot...

odd gull: cachinnans?
On one of my recent video of a cr-LBBG (Sönke Martens's yellow HE708), I happen to notice a strange gull I didn't pay attention to in the field: the bird just at the left of HE708 in the first sequence (first 32 sec) of http://youtu.be/1jVUkq__6qU . Quite long fine bill reminiscent of cachinnans (no...

Did you check Dirk Raes's website http://www.cr-birding.org/? I'm pretty sure you'll find here most of the answers… If not, try the mailing list https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/cr-birding/info
