Today I saw this bird. A ring from Spain?

Yes, probably from Badajoz, Spain. You can contact (JMARCHAMALO at telefonica.net) for details.

Thanks. I thought so too.

Is it a common phenomenon that birds from the South migrate north? Untill now I had only read colourringed gulls from the north and east parts of Europe.

Yes it's a common phenomenon, our local birds do so every spring ;) Except for small numbers from the Ebro delta, all of these Spanish birds have been ringed in winter.
