Katwijk aan Zee, The Netherlands

The fierce winds yesterday brought in groups of Little Gulls to our coast, with a group of about 10 feeding at the exit of a drainage canal into the North Sea at Katwijk. It was lovely to be able to observe them from just a few meters away. Some of the adults were still actively growing their outer 2 primaries.

Katwijk aan Zee, 01 January 2012.
After fireworks and some drinks last night, I went to the beach with my family to get some fresh air. Nice to see a flock of 1,000 gulls feeding on ensis this afternoon. My first white-winged this year, first cach and first local green ring from Texel.
