Mid May, good time for arriving immature birds, They can take a rest at Katwijk, which is away from the hustle in the colonies. We have had strong wind last 3 days, which is normally good for gull concentrations at the beach. However, with a bit of sunshine as well today, much disturbance from people, dogs, horses, cars, electronic miniature vehicles, etc.
Today about 60 birds, including 2 michahellis (2CY, 4CY) and one fuscoides 3CY.

LBBG fuscoides, probably 3CY bird with black band on bill and black in tail feathers. P1-P2 in left wing old 2nd gen-like, brown bleached outerwebs, but greyish innerwebs with a dark subterminal band (but hard to get a good picture of these 2 feathers); P3-P7 with bold white tips; division at P7/P8, with P8-P10 no white tips, but P10 with mirror. P8-P10 not extermely worn, rather glossy looking.
