As for the 'mystery gull': surely, the smooth brown belly, extensively barred undertail coverts, and pattern of the juvenile scapulars and tertials point to Vega Gull rather than anything else ?

Yes Peter, it might be correct, with the underparts, tertial and scapular pattern being more in line with vegae. As much as I was aware of this I was however, focused on structure, narrow wingtip, altough seemingly short-winged, bill size and greate covert pattern, in which the last also appaently can be seen in some vegae.
