Hey everybody,
Today I look at my Gull Pictures which were taken on 31.7.2012 and 1.8.2012 at the Meldorfer Hafen, Germany.
I have a few birds were I aren´t sure with the ID.
The first part:
Gull1
First impression and thought were Caspian Gull in 2nd calender year but i´m unsure if the pale window on inner primaries is to big for a cachinnans?
I think nevertheless this bird is a Caspian Gull
Gull2
I think it´s a Caspian Gull in 3rd calender year
Gull3
Lesser Black-backed Gull 2nd calender year?
Gull4
Yellow-legged Gull 2nd calender year? or Herring Gull?
The dark eye mask and the impression of the second picture let me think it´s a YLG but could a YLG have such a big pale window on inner primaries?
3rd calender year Herring Gull
Hope you can help me. There is much to learn for me (í´m interested in Gulls since October 2011)

Re: Some unidentified Gulls
hi armin,
without going into detail: ageing seems correct in all birds but i'm struggling to see any other species than herring gull in these pics.
regards,
lou
