Cachinnelis?

Post by Albert de Jong » Thu Nov 29, 2012 9:37 pm

The previous post reminded me of this bird. We saw it two days ago (27.11.2012) on the dump of Barneveld, The Netherlands.
- Structure and tongues fits best cachinnans
- Colouration of the bare parts and iris better for michahellis

Anybody a guess?

More hormons going on in this nice Caspian Gull.
Another pic (Merijn Loeve)of the same individual showing underwing pattern.

Not showing in the pictures is the mantle colour, fitting nicely on micha, imo very dark for a cach.
(I was there, too)

that's a very nice male caspian gull with pale irides and bright coloured legs, with red on uppper mandible - all happening in caspian gull, don't know if that's hormones...maybe.
