Dear friends:
On 29.9.2013 Martí Franch saw this odd gull. This bird was identifyed as viking.
I´m not sure with the id. I.M.O this is not a viking, but.....
I think this is a pale end herring or a dark glaucoides, but I have no enough experience with this extreme birds.
Any opinion would be interesting.
Thanks in advance
Alll the best
Antonio

odd gull. Glaucoides, pale herring or Viking....?

Hi Antonio,
in a glaucoides, even a big male, I would expect (much) less of a gonydeal angle.
I would agree with this bird being most likely a "Viking Gull".
