got to confess i'd have accepted them all as pure cachis, too.

Here the same problematic bird is mingled with 12 others.
So: is there an odd one out?

i suppose it is the bird from 18.08. (shown as standing in the post from 29.10. and in flight in your today's post). still it looks ok for cachi. poited bill tip, belly line in the flight pic are all very typical for this sp; GC pattern is acceptable. all other birds look perfect. well, the one from 21.07. (your last post, the one swallowing bread) is dark and we don't see much of it, so there can be hidden some other off features, but on first look it's ok.

tuesday's birds:
1. hard to tell anything definite from the blurry shots
2. a bit short billed and again, i can't ID it with certainty due to somewhat atypical covert pattern but it's not impossible for cachi.
3. 1st cycle cachi
4. idem
5. strange bird which most probably is noot a pure cachi. hard to tell what it is though. hybrid tatus x cachi, micha x tatus, micha x cachi???

11 + 13 J: the 'bird from 18.08' is indeed our 'problematic' bird (others come from GRO).
I do think it's a pretty good cach (as Mars did, I assume), even if its bill, head and neck look rather short and thick while flying (any matter of angle?).
But other people don't agree.
So your opinion is opportune.

Tuesday's birds:
1. OK, too blurry shots, can't attest to - but neither rule out - a cach, so we have to leave it to the osberver's words.
2 & 5. YLGulls for me, but gripping white.
3 & 4. Maybe 2 good cach indeed, but found in a place where cach have to be strong 'ultimate' to be approved... so details as short bill or globular head (4.) cast doubt on the species or purity.

hi emmanuel,
sorry to answer again on the same topic.
11 + 13 J (18.08.) looks really very typical for cach, in the standing pic: bill is perfect, small head with "snout", upright stance, high breast and bump behind leg, thumbnail on tertials (although there seem to be some "irregularities" of white on their lateral edge), GC pattern.
tuesday:
2 looks a bit like YLG indeed with its crisp pattern but you can't exclude a 2cy cachi with a bit bolder markings. note for instance the strong bump behind legs in the 2nd pic - uncommon in YLG. slight dark mask around eye would be acceptable for a well marked 2nd cycle cach (but also for a hybrid )
4. - don't share your concerns about the 'globular head' and short bill - everything abs. within variation of good casp. gull.
5 could be a YLG but a very strange one. bill is at least atypic!
