Hi Lars

Not a norwegian ring, but a ring from the norwegian project. We have since 2009 had a cooperation with Kjeld Pedersen at the danish ringing central were rings that start with J are used in Denmark, most on GBBGs. We wanted to compare survival rates for chicks between Norway and Denmark, and it is thought that the more similar the rings and reporting system are, the more compareble should the data be. And of course, the danish ringing central save administration time when all runs through ringmerking.no, they got one single file with all readings once in a year, thats all.

Kjeld have used a few rings in winter as well with the "norwegian" codes, he was out of the V rings he normally use. So for this bird it was either only metal (= limited chance of more ring readings), or a J ring :) It was ringed in Sortedamssø I ved Østerbrogade 3.2.2011. There are more pics and biometrics of the bird at ringmerking.no, if you report it.

Cheers,

Morten
