hi jan,

good to have the links to hans' pics in the new svalan 'plumage' as well. recently i could take pics of many odd cachis and michas on vadu beach, romania, by mid to end of august. hopefully i'll get some time to process them and link them here. a small taste:

i think the original bird is a michahellis with a cachi-tail. covert pattern and head mask are very micha like as is the rest of the covert pattern with broad white fringes. hans' pics on svalan (see post only confirm my long felt suspicions. this is not a cachinnans: download/file.php?id=3391

Yes I see Lou, turned out to be quite a controversial gull indeed. :o
In my mind - when I saw it, there where not much of a doubt i real life. The only thing I did consider was the tertial pattern, however, not such a big problem after all imo. A few more pic below.
