Ringed Caspian Gull - February 10th 2014

Post by Cristian Mihai » Fri Mar 28, 2014 2:37 pm

I found a picture on facebook and after that I contacted the photographer. The bird was found and photographed by Cocina Laurentiu Alexandru on a lake in Bucharest (Tineretului park). Pictures by Cocina Laurentiu Alexandru (taken on February 10th 2014). We are waiting for an answer from Ukraine... ;)

Any more pics of that gull on the left in the third picture (with thick black band on bill), Christian?

oups! that's certainly not a pure common gull? look at the pattern GC and TT! canus x michahellis??? :geek: :geek: :geek:
it reminds me of a bird in portugal or spain, where ring-billed thought to be involved but probably was just a weird small michahellis.

Yep, it's an odd bird indeed.

Here are some more pics with this bird. Unfortunately we don't have a very good side view. I'm not 100% sure that in the first picture is the same bird.

I don't think that canus is involved here.
Probably a small michahellis, would be my guess also.
