Herring Gull with broad tounge tips

Hi all.
An interesting argentatus Herring Gull with broad white tounge tips on p7 & p6, quite similar to many Vega Gulls.

Well spotted jan, and good documentation.

I don't think I've photographed a bird with such obvious tongue tips, the next examples are about what are upper limits in my set of images:

No surprise these images are from winter, as I think there is a tendency for argentatus to show it more often than do argenteus.
More white in the wingtip, but obviously something went in the left wing:

I was in fact scaning lots of your Herrings on your exellent Flickr site to see if I could find some kind of match :-)
