Moskva

Post by marsmuusse » Mon Oct 22, 2012 7:08 pm

There is an influx going on of passerine species here in the Netherlands, with a small group of 4 Olive-backed Pipits together at Vlieland, and also 4 Raddes Warblers spread over this small island. But for all these birds: no rings, no glory; although some people may think different about this.
So, I spent my afternoon again at Scheveningen harbour, with several local ringed birds and, surprisingly, nice to see a ringed Russian bird as well! No doubt it travel quickly south all the way from the coast of the White Sea in the Kandalaksha Nature Reserve (67.15N,32.30E), Murmansk District, Russia.
By now, most Lesser Black-backed Gulls seem to have moved further south, out of my region, leaving almost only Herring Gulls, `the Grey Plague` according to Pim, but probably he doesn´t refer to ringed Russian birds (but in way he is right, many birds of which we think are from Scandinavia are not ringed).
Some images made today...
