This herring gull was found by Alex Máni on the 4rth of October 2018 in Þorlákshöfn, SW-Iceland. It has several pro-Smith features such as barred upper and under tail coverts, much black in tail feathers, smoky axillaries and inconspicuous window on upperwing and the bill shape and size. On the other hand, the distal secondaries are less dark, underparts lack uniformity and it does not have darker hindneck. It is likely to be 1cy, although retarded 2cy cannot be ruled out. It is must likely a Viking gull.
