This 3cy herring gull, photographed by Stefán Áki Ragnarsson on the 4rth of December 2018 in Grindavík, has extensive amount of black in the tail feathers and in the secondaries and the upper-tail coverts (while largely moulted) appear quite barred. It could even be possibly an american herring gull, but then proving that will be very difficult. Unfortunately there are no photos of it sitting.
