This gull was found on the 23rd of February by Guðmundur Falk in Njarðvík, and seen shortly after by Stefán Ragnarsson. What is striking is the heavily barred upper tail coverts/rump, muck in tail feathers (just tiny amount of pale in the outermost), heavily barred under tail coverts, distal secondaries black and inconspicuous inner primary window and paler head. On the opther hand, the underparts fo not appear to be particularly uniform and the bill could be glaucous like. Still nevertheless an interesting individual, and the amount of black in tail must be on the extreme what can be expected for european herring gull.
