Staffelmauser in ylg complex

I received an image from Israel (of course by THE gull-photographer Amir Ben Dov) showing this bird:

http://www.gull-research.org/armenicus/ ... aug04.html

As it seems, there are two moult waves in the primaries: the outer primnaries are still growing (which is normal for this time of the year) and a second moult wave seemed to have started at the inner primaries again?

Anyone seen such in the michahellis - cachinnans complex? If I remember correct, there should be a picture on the web showing this in an expected barabensis from the Guld I though, but I couldn't relocate it. But then, barabensis is sometimes classified under "taymirensis", in which I would expect it to occur more often...

Never seen anything like this in mich/cach myself....
Interesting - but my guess is that this kind of moult is rare in Armenian Gull ?
Fantastic photographs by Amir, by the way!

Note the brown wash on the fresh p1. Not that common in 3rd gen p1 on mich...
The moult in the tail is pretty late, considering P and S are almost fully grown.

And, is that very black 2 gen R6 a pointer to ID armenicus from michahellis?

But then again of course, they are on their 2nd moult too.

Again, Amir has sent a picture that shows a bird (believed to be an adult this time), which has two moult locations in the primaries. The picture is not in focus (sorry) and therefore not good enough for the site, but the bird is interesting and maybe illustrative for "staffelmauser" and this individual too may represent a small percentage of armenian gulls that show this phenomenon. I copied the image as attachment in this post.

Another individual can be seen here:

It is of less interest because the moult strategy of the inner primaries in the left wing does not seem to be mirrored in the right wing (lacking new replacements).

To me that looks like a half-grown P1, as opposed to a displaced feather. Especially in pic #2...
