Some ringed birds

The much awaited coordinated excursion... Yesterday we spend a day gull watching with a group of 10 along the Dutch coast (Scheveningen-Katwijk-IJmuiden). Unfortunately, numbers of ringed birds were a bit low, and we had some rain, but it was good to see everybody and drink some beers together with an early Xmas dinner, laptops full of images of weird birds and much to discuss. I really enjoyed it, so thanks Pim, Albert, Theo, Raul (all the way from Sweden to experience the Dutch weather), PieterGeert, Herman, Ruud, Maarten.

Yes, coming together like this, take a few beers and discuss such highly interesting topics is of course brilliant :)

So this JE003 character, it have at least not shed P10 yet, isn`t that ridicoulously late? This bird is 4th cy, even for an adults this is veeery late I think. A flight shot would of course be even more informative :-)

Cheers,

Morten

Hi Morten,
Yes you are right, we noticed this as well. It is late, but this moult is symmetric, so just a delayed individual probably.
BTW, I made a mistake reading the other ring (oooh no Mars, not again!); it is not J18X but it should read J19X. Can you change this in the database, or can I myself do that?

Cheers, Mars

Now this if fixed. Hm, seen in IJmondhaven, IJmuiden, Noord-Holland, the same day, over 100 km away. Is 51°31'00"N 003°26'00"E correct for "your" Ijmuiden and 52°27'38"N 004°34'11"E good for IJmondhaven??? :)

My IJmuiden, the place where we spread fish left-overs last weekend, and even after a few beers, is:
52°27'29.63"N
4°34'54.31"O
