This bird is still present. It's a male and seems to have found a mate (female Herring).

I too had a very good candidate for this hybrid combo in Belgium a few weeks ago:

Had the same bird again yesterday, at the same location. The primary pattern looks identical, in any case. Note also the black shaft streak on one outer primary covert of the left wing.
Most of the head streaking has been lost by now, but leg colour remains a dull pinkish-yellow.

Apparently the season has started again for this hybrid. They seem to be so common maybe we should come up with a name for them ;)

During Christmas holiday I went through my hard drive and found photos and video of no less than six (probable) adult Herring x LBBG hybrids from Denmark:

#1 (Mandø): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2015/01/presu ... acked.html

#2 (Grenaa Harbour): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2014/12/presu ... acked.html

#3 (Fjellerup Strand): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2014/12/presu ... ed_10.html

#4 (Aarhus Harbour): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2010/12/herri ... -with.html

#5 (Kalø Vig): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2009/10/slvma ... a-mrk.html

#6 (Aarhus Harbour): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2011/01/herri ... th_17.html

Please comment if you disagree with the ID.

As Ruud has suggested earlier, maybe they are so common that it makes sense to come up with a name for this combination?

Cheers

Kent
