2cy at Westkapelle with some Heuglini characters
Evenin' All, it's been a while since anyone claimed even a possible heuglini from anywhere. The bird in the attached pic's was photographed on 2 October 2018 at Westkapelle, SW Netherlands. Nearly all sec's are juvenile, p1-7 "new", p8-10 juvenile. The very plain greater cov's were very obvious in f...

Re: 2nd or 3rd-cycle cach ?
apart from those smudgy marks on it's neck and the lack of mirrors on p9 and p10 it looks a lot like this 3cy photographed at Westkapelle on 13 November 2009.

Re: Swedish 1cy Caspian in Amsterdam
if the camera date is correct (and judging by the ringing date it is) the Swedish pic was taken just after ringing on 7th August 2010.

Re: Herring Gull 1cy - paler end
Today at Westkapelle there were at least three gulls that were on the paler end of the spectrum. Three pics of the same individual, one of the nicest I've seen this year.

Re: Gull south of Portugal
judging by the pattern on the bill and moult stage (dropped p10 in later pics) this could easily be the same bird.

Re: Gull south of Portugal
agree with Jan that this looks like a 3cy YLG but I think that Thijs was wondering about the very grey body of this bird? It happens from time to time, there has been a gull in Ireland (presumably a Herring) with the same kind of plumage. I have no idea what this kind of pigment-variant is called th...

Re: Hybrid argentatus x marinus?
Hello Paul, a reply to "bump" your question. I think that the lack of response does not mean that it's not an interesting bird but rather reflects the level of experience of the forum members (including myself) with this type of presumed hybrid. I think it could well be a hybrid, size and build are ...
