Hi Hans and Jan! One more pic - the last one unfortunately. I have some dobuts with moult if we consider caspian. Such delayed pace is rather unusuall for 2cy caspian. Lack of any 3rd gen scaps and coverts - possible in caspian in mid of july? In these photo jizz is not so elongated but the legs app...

Tricky for me was pear shaped head and especially GC still juv without any notches.
Any way with such a moult pace in 2cy its hard to don't agree for HG.

Hi!
These photo was taken in NE Poland at Blatic coast in 15.07.2010
Metal ring was from Estonia but wasn't fully read.
Its not my photo so any details from field view cannot be described here.

Yesterday about 1300 large gulls at Łubna. Most of them was herrings but also 1cy fuscus and adult hyperboreus, either regular winter guest in each season. Unfortunatelly rumors about closing Łubna makes true :( December 2010 is last month of dropping fresh rubbish. Next year they will start to swam...

lou, they was probably western fuscus - graellsi /pale? intermedius. No one of breeding birds was real dark mantle like f.fuscus - they were present in colony but only on migration and later in breeding season progress they disappear. Aren't cachinnans and graellsii breeding side by side in .... Poland? Today quick check of new discovered night's rest of 550 large gulls at Wisla river. Another 2 new PU codes suprise me a lot :) Sorry for image quality but large distance and slow shutter speed didn't foster to me. Interesting differences between these two birds.
