Re: Gull (Western Ukraine) 20/05/2015 ?
hi kolya, mars, it was me who urged kolya to post these pics of an ambigous bird on this forum. in my opinion it would be too simple to just put it into the argentatus corner even though primary pattern mostly suggests this species. it has to be seen in the context of many other individuals photogra...

Re: cr-gull green XLEN
salut alain, personally i don't think this is a (pure) michahellis. bill shape, small eye, plain coverts with diffuse pale fringes and esp. scap pattern with black markings in uppers concentrated around shaft with a thin subterminal bar: all smells at least to have some cachinnans blood. it would be...

Re: Presumed Heuglini from Hungary

Re: Presumed Heuglini from Hungary
szia gabor, i think it is either heuglini or intermedius with the latter (intermedius) probably being the more likely candidate. most LBBG obs. in western romania and which are not nominate fuscus probably belong to intermedius. many norwegian intermedius still are all juvenile in november. and some...

Re: 4 birds: pure Caspians or...?!
to me this looks like a skinny retarded female micha with a longish bill. upper mandible curve at tip is strong, fat eye smudge, scap pattern. some females can have such stilty legs.

Re: 4 birds: pure Caspians or...?!
well, it can well go as pure 2cy cachinnans but, stemming from reddern - hard to know for sure if there is some HG involvement or not.

hi gabor,
can't have marinus parent with such a compact black tail band. my guess is cachinnans x argentatus.
