CG or hybrid?
Hi guys, last Friday i found this first winter Gull (with polish color ring/yellow PKBC) on my local Gull spot. I'm not sure whether this is a hybrid, as you can see several features speak for a Caspian Gull, but for me the markings on the head look quite strange for a pure CG. _MG_9805.jpg _MG_9827...

1st winter HG or LBBG
Hello together, today I got some pictures of this Gull. I’m still not sure whether it is a HG or a LBBG. In the field it appeared very long-winged, small-billed and altogether relatively small. Although it’s not that dark as LBBG’s are in this age my guess is LBBG. Or just a slender HG? Thanks for y...

Hi Lou,
You are right, the bill is really huge and I’m of your opinion that the young bird must be a male.

Re: Putative Heuglin's Gull in Germany
To my opinion the streaks on hindneck of Heuglin’s Gulls often seems to be coarser and more contrasting than in CaspG. I’ve no experience with the species in the field, but this was always my impression when viewing adult heuglini’s in winter plumage on pictures. Ronalds bird seems to show this feat...

Hi Gullers,
these two Caspian Gulls were photographed in NE-Saxony. Here in winter the cachinnans’s are the most common Gulls, with a percentage of at least 60-70%. Proportions of 90% are no exceptional cases.
Pictures taken on 22nd November 2009.
Greetings Steve
