Hybrid Yellow-legged x Lesser Black-backed Gull (Switzerland
Hi
Today I saw a hybrid Yellow-legged x Lesser Black-backed Gull at Yverdon (Lac de Neuchâtel), Switzerland. It was born at the same lake last year and then ringed with a ring at each leg.

Re: Dark Herring Gul?
Hi I'm not a gull expert and I don't have experience with AHg except this possible smithsonianus 2007 in Switzerland: http://www.pbase.com/dinah_saluz/goeland_probable_smithsonianus_ And I don't have much experience with Hg as there are only little numbers wintering in Switzerland, but I can cite so...

Why do you think it could be a ylg?
Lower mandible looks a little bit strange, but i can't see any ylg features or something that would not fit for caspian...

Hi Christian
I think it's a Caspian:
- small white head in contrast to the neck collar
- slender bill
- whitish underwing
- the wing pattern looks good for caspian
- second generation scapulars too

Re: Dark eyed YLG
Thank you lou.
Yeah that was also my second thougt, but the black tip on P10 irritated me. I didn't know that cachinnans can show such a tip on P10, well there is a lot to learn for me.

Re: Dark eyed YLG
What do you think about this bird? First I thought it is a micha, but as I read here, that dark eyed michahellis are quiet rare, I'm not sure anymore... The photos were taken at the 19.2.09 at the Bodensee, Switzerland.

Re: Some immature Yellow-legged Gulls, Bucharest, November 28th
Hi everybody I'm from Switzerland. And here I have exactly this problem with second winter Herring and Yellow-legged Gulls, because in winter Herring Gulls are nearly as common as Ylg at the Bodensee. What are the best features to identify second winter Herring respectively Yellow-legged Gulls? In t...
