Sorry about quality of photos. The bird is in center. Photos taken 22nd February 2015. Presumed first winter Caspian Gull. Bird showed pale edges to medium coverts and greater coverts forming 'wing bars along these tracts. Secondaries blackish with broad whitish tips forming pale trailing edge. This...

Caspian or Yellow-legged.
Hi every one. I originally identified this Gull as a Caspian but of few of my birding friends seem to think that it is a Yellow-legged. Any comments would be welcome. Unfortunately the images were taken at a range of about 500 yards so they are not the best.

I was sent this photograph by Paul Holmes of an adult Herring Gull ssp taken at Felixstowe Ferry, Suffolk, England and we would both welcome comments on the racial identification. Especially mirror configuration to the primaries, eye colour and bill.

This bird is showing what I believe to be a third generation scapular. Bill colour is not typical either.
