This morning I checked the beach in Scheveningen. An unringed adult gull attracted attention. It was an elongated, smallish, very dark and elegant-looking Lesser Black-backed or Baltic Gull. It seems to have replaced P1, 2 and 3 on both wings, with P4 almost fully grown and clearly visible in the left wing but P4 apparently missing in its right wing. Does this safely disqualify it as a Baltic (in addition to the missing ring)?
I appreciate your comments.
Cheers,
Rob
