Hi,
this 4th-cycle gull was at Njardvik, Iceland in late March 2010. I struggled with its identification in the field and I am still struggling with it now!
Its left wing was damaged. Orbital ring was dark pink or pinkish-red.
All help would be appreciated.

Re: white-winged gull
Interesting structure, long legs and rather short primary projection. Also like the male American Wigeon in the shot as well!

Hi Peter.
Have been looking at your 'Iceland gull' a few times without beeing able to come up with a sound identity due to long-billed/legged impression. Perhaps the lack of comments partly reflects this?
Initially I had some thoughts of a small Glaucous Gull, perhaps of the smaller-billed barrovianus (http://tinyurl.com/cc2uf7z), but propably not due to location? Anyhowe, there´s Iceland/Kumlién´s feel to it - apart from the long looking bil and legs. However, fully aware of the danger judging these things in a few pic, newertheless, that´s the impression you get. What do you think Peter?

Re: white-winged gull
Each day, I am getting more and more inclined to believe that it is a large Iceland Gull, but I am not quite there yet...
