Hello,
I will start from bad news: my good friend, finder of the first Slaty-backed Gull in the Western Palearctic, best gull expert in Lithuania, bird ringer, Vytautas Pareigis fell through ice and drowned on Tuesday (2013-04-09) while watching his beloved gulls. He was trying to read gull rings when he ventured onto the ice.
I believe some of you in this forum knew him personally and if you know someone else who did, please pass the news.
He was responsible for Black-headed Gull ringing project with black PXXX rings in Lithuania and contacted with observers directly, I think LBRC will take over from now: http://www.cr-birding.org/node/593
Gull in Pictures was observed in 2011-08-21, in Dumpiai dump near Klaipėda city, Lithuania. Bird was a bit smaller than small L.argentatus. What species or hybrid do you think it is?

The bird is probably the 3d year L. fuscus, but which subspecies?
