looking at its short head and eyes i readily put this into the michahellis section - a mistake? are those ventral tongues excluding a YLG, p9 mirror seems large too...
ergo cachi, right???

Hello,
not an easy bird, but I think is a cachinnans. Such an iris color is not rare in cachis, and that primary pattern is good for that species.
Cheers!

Narrow red orbital ring similar to cachinnans - usually broader, mainly in front of the eye in michahellis.

hi jan, gabi,
i think it is a pontic gull indeed with that primary pattern but short head made me think mich at the first mo.
and older male (?) caspian gulls often show strongly extended orbital (as seen in the d.delta pics).
