Swedish blatic in NW Spain

Hi All:
Today 6.Sept. 2010 at Esmelle beach, Ferrol, A Coruña, NW Spain ( 43º 31´59´´ N – 08º 17´39´´ W). A Swedish Baltic gull WITHE M069 was sighted in the NW corner of Spain.

Nice! Interesting to find out how these birds migrate. Do they cross Europe in a more or less straight line on high altitude, do they follow main rivers and waters, or do they hop from waste dump to waste dump?

I do not know HG, many LBBG fly directly from Madrid to the north of Spain. Yuo can see the migration path of LBBG green MAFA in this link:

I remembered an article in Ringing & Migration nicely illustrating Dannish intermedius LBBG to use interior landfills, hopping between wintering and breeding grounds. I copied the article here:

I Have just received the history report of this baltic and it was ringed as nestling on 21.7.1995 At Gran is. Gnarp, Hälsingland, Sweden (62.01N -17.38E) There are no previous sightings..... (Toumo Kolehmainen com. pers.).
