Hybrid CG x HG

Hello,

I had asked a similar question some weeks ago, without any success...

But this time - today afternoon at Krems/Austria - the bird had a clipring. Most likely it was a Lithuanian ring. Unfortunately I had technical problems with my digiscoping cam, so the ring was not read.
From Lithuania HG, CG and their hybrids are coming. Pure CG can be excluded (so also Kiev ring), otherwise the bird does not fit for pure HG in my eyes, especially coverts. Scapulars have something from CG, bill proportions are intermediate...

Hi Wolfgang.

From the one pic I don´t see why it isn´t a Herring. The only somehow unusual, if you like, is the uniformly coloured smithsonianus like lower nape and part of the underparts. I realise of course the possibilities of another impression from another different pic of the same.

i can see where wolfgang comes from when seeing caspian like scaps and esp. since i think there are some 2nd gen. coverts. still those underparts look totally off. so why not one of the numerous hybrids?

Nice with some new images Wolfgang...and I still see the possibility of a Herring - and one with 2nd gen coverts.

Note the scapular pattern on HL Herring here:
