This gull was ringed in Bergen, western Norway in September 2009 as a mail 1cy.
Could be a L.fuscus fucscus

Was ringed in Bergen as a 1 CY, but we do not know where was born.

It was originally thought to be fuscus due to black-and white appareance and small size, it was small even in hand. The ringers, Frode Falkenberg and Arild Breistøl, are not sure anymore and have added an ? to the subspecies later, and ringed it as an L. fuscus ssp. Maybe it turns up at a breeding colony somewhere, who nows

They ringed 6 1st year birds in one day, the other five as intermedius. Three of them are reported already, this in Spain, another to Hanstholm in Denmark in october and a third in Anza, Agadir last month. There have been little cr ringing in Hordaland before but there will be more the next years. But the first fuscus fuscus should start to breed ca 250 km further north, in the northern part of the county Møre and Romsdal. We do not now much about the birds in this part of the country.

We did not visit all the LBBG colonies in Troms and Finnmark in 2010, for first time in 6 years, due to lazy coastguard and crap weather. That means that we only ringed 83 chicks in 4 colonies, normal is from 150-300 in 9 colonies. The big thing though, was that we found no less than 50 (!) pairs breeding at some islands in a lake at Ringvassøya, Troms. First freshwater colony in northern Norway! They had few chicks in 2010 and was harassed by the local gyrfalcon when we was there, but it will be very intersting to follow them the next years.
