Any ideas welcomed

Hi,

I know that the following photographs will not give sufficient information for a definite ID of this gull, but I would be most interested to know what your ideas would be for the most likely candidate.
It was photographed (by me) on 28/01/11 at a gull roost in Hampshire, England.
The bird to which I refer is at the bottom left of the following photo showing strange wear to the tail and wing trailing edges:

There are several photos of this bird in the same folder accessed by use of the arrows above the photo.

hi simon

looks like a herring gull with an interesting aberrant tail pattern - little pigmentation in the tip of tail feathers.
