Hi, this Gull was photo`d in Northern England recently. Please scroll down to post #2107 at http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php ... 97&page=85 , Its got perhaps some Casp like features( head, tertials etc) but also clearly Herring Gull type greater coverts, so could it be a hybrid or just a Herring Gull? Comments welcome,
cheers, Pete

Hi Pete, Lou.
Looks good for Herring imo. Smallish looking eye and tertial pattern could indicate features of Caspian. More pic could perhaps indicate otherwise?

Re: Hybrid or just a Herring Gull?
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=589 for me is not a pure herring but rather a hybrid.
theo's gull is a pure herring for me.
the subject gull is a hybrid for me.
(this in short, without argumentation).
