cach or some hybrid?

Post by Luka Jurinovic » Tue Oct 09, 2012 8:44 am

Cheers,

This gull was ringed in Zagreb in December 2009 as 2nd winter micha by me and it was found and photographed by Bartosz Janiszewski as arg two days ago in Kąty Rybackie, Pomeranian Voivod., Poland..
Of course I don't have photo from ringing :)

The problem is that this bird doesn't look like any of theese two to me now..

For me it goes in direction of some female cach with pale eyes and a bit short legs..
Other ideas?

thanx in advance!

Luka

looks very much like a hybrid (cach x tatus), luka. I don't think it's a pure cach and looks strange for a pure HG but hard to be excluded. primary tips look very large (better for argentatus but there's a lot of overlap), bill of course has the look of a female cach, especially being 5cy now, with such a large amount of black. an open wing would have helped...
