Hi all, this first-year gull, larger than a Yellow-legged Gull was observd by me on 11 and photographed by Luca Boscain on 13 december 2012 at Chioggia near Venice, NE Italy. Is it symply a large Herring "argentatus" or what ?

Due to the large proportions and the stage of moult in the scapulars, this could be a nothern one: argentatus.
