Another update for Herring Gulls: 18 flying 2CY birds to show moult scores for early July. Most common pattern P5/P8, next P4/P7, so most birds now 5 or 4 fully grown inner primaries and still with P8-P10 juvenile or P7-P10 juvenile. Below, an image that represent the slightly advanced birds, which have shed tail feathers. See:

Other plumages and birds from June to follow soon... Hope you'll enjoy!

There was a gap in open wing Herring Gulls in April. Last weeks nice weather was of great help: I've added 70 flying 2CY and about 20 flying 3CY Herrings for April, other plumages will follow soon.
See:
http://www.gull-research.org/hg/HG2CY04.htm
Unfortunately, all unringed birds, but hope the variation in Herring Gull is well covered and illustrated...

Some sub-adult and adults added as well for April:

Including yellow-legged birds from Finland (many thanks to Petteri!!!) And some birds from Katwijk beach, the Netherlands near my house:
These yellow-legged gulls images by Petteri made me decide it is time to add the Alula 1998 article by Lars Jonsson to the site, see the same link above...
